Hear from the candidates at weekend forums in Palatine, Elk Grove, Prospect Heights

The League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area will continue its series of weekend candidate forums from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, with one for Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211, Palatine Township Elementary District 15 and the tax-hike referendum for the Palatine Public Library.

Also this weekend, the League of Women Voters of Arlington Heights will host a forum for candidates for Elk Grove Village trustee and Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 school board from 10 a.m. to noon March 9, at Elk Grove village hall, 901 Wellington Ave.

And on Sunday, March 10, it will host a forum for Prospect Heights' mayoral and Ward 3 alderman candidates from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Prospect Heights Public Library, 12 N. Elm St. in Prospect Heights.

There probably is no better way for voters to inform themselves about the candidates for these offices than to hear directly from them.

The Palatine League also is making available the videos of its prior forums - including those for the village of Schaumburg, city of Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg Township District Library - on its website. Go to lwvpalatinearea.org and click on the link for 2019 forums.

Its March 9 forum will be in Meeting Room 1 of the Palatine Public Library, 700 N. North Court in Palatine.

Up first, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., will be the six candidates seeking four available seats on the District 211 board of education.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees will hear from the eight candidates seeking three available seats on the school board.

There will be a presentation between the two forums, from 10:45 to 11 a.m., on the Palatine Library referendum by a speaker from the library.

Election Day is Tuesday, April 2.
