MainStreet Libertyville's Car Fun on 21 Celebrates 20 Years in 2023
Special Celebration on June 21, 2023
MainStreet Libertyville will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Car Fun on 21 on Wednesday, June 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in downtown Libertyville's Cook Park located at 413 N. Milwaukee Avenue.
Classic cars, trucks and motorcycles 25 years and older will be on display on Church Street and Cook Avenue. While you are admiring the cars, you can listen to the sounds of a local favorite band, ACME Music and enjoy food served by Rosati's Pizza. The event is held monthly on the third Wednesday of the month through September.
Perry Zukowski, Car Fun on 21 Committee Chair, is very pleased to celebrate the event's 20th year. "The volunteers at Car Fun on 21 are delighted that our event continues to be a summertime tradition that so many people enjoy and look forward to each month. We appreciate the support of our local businesses and it's great to be able to feature local musicians and celebrate the passion of so many classic car owners from Libertyville and other local communities," said Zukowski.
Les Galo, one of the original committee members for the event is also happy to celebrate this milestone and see the event flourish over the years. According to Galo, "When we first started in 2003, the event was held on Church Street. Now it has grown to include both Church Street and Cook Avenue, between Brainerd and Milwaukee Avenue. This year we're also using the Civic Center parking lot. In 2022, we saw record numbers of car displayed."
Car owners interested in displaying a car may use the Brainerd Avenue entrances to Cook and Church Streets. No registration is required. Volunteers are available to assist with parking beginning at 5:00 p.m. The event opens to the public at 6:00 p.m.
Future dates and scheduled entertainment for Car Fun on 21 are as follows:
· July 19 with Catfish;
· August 16 with Blue Eyed Leo; and
· September 20 featuring JiMarth.
