Lakemoor man charged with stealing vehicle

A 19-year-old Lakemoor man was arrested Thursday after authorities linked him to a Crystal Lake vehicle theft, according to the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

Corey Carrillo, of the 200 block of Park Road, was charged with felony burglary, criminal trespassing to a motor vehicle and theft under $300, according to the sheriff’s office.

A resident on the 1500 block of Blossom Court in Crystal Lake called 911 reporting a vehicle theft in progress on the morning of Jan. 8, according to authorities.

Deputies were able to locate the vehicle, which was abandoned in Lakemoor.

Additional information and evidence gathered by the sheriff’s department linked Carrillo to the crime, and he was taken into custody without incident Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office. He is being held at the McHenry County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Carrillo is due in court Jan. 20.
