Join JOURNEYS | The Road Home for annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk

Ready the Batmobile and assemble. JOURNEYS | The Road Home's annual Superhero 5K Run/Walk is about to begin.

Everyone participating in this fundraising event is encouraged to come decked out in their superhero best as they come together to support the unhoused and at-risk of homelessness residents of Cook County.

The Superhero 5K will take place in Deer Grove East at 1599 Pepper Tree Drive, Palatine, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18.

There are many ways to participate, including a one-mile Fun Run and a virtual 5K. Additionally, all real-life superheroes are welcome to join JOURNEYS' staff behind the scenes as a volunteer or an individual or business sponsor to help fund, set up, run, and/or close the event.

During the event there will be activities for children and adults to take part in as the participants complete their races. Tavares Chambliss, also known as the Neon Ninja from American Ninja Warrior, will be on hand to present medals to the top finishers.

The leading fundraiser for individuals and for teams will also receive a special superhero prize to acknowledge the good work they are doing for their communities.

Tickets are priced at $5 for ages 10 and younger; $30 for ages 11-17; and $40 for ages 18 and older.

Proceeds from JOURNEYS' Superhero 5K will go toward the agency's mission to provide shelter, social services, and housing to the unhoused and those at-risk of homelessness in the 37 Cook County communities the agency serves.

JOURNEYS exists to be a consistent source of hope for clients living in an inconsistent period, guiding them to housing stability and self-sufficiency.

After a big day of being real-life superheroes, everyone is invited to join JOURNEYS at The Tap House Grill, 56 W. Wilson Drive, Palatine, to celebrate.
