A plan to impose daily and weekly limits on the number of pitches Illinois high school baseball players are allowed to throw could take effect this spring. The Illinois High School Association's baseball advisory committee agreed Tuesday to recommend the limits - including 115 pitches per game for varsity pitchers - with an eye toward helping prevent young players from suffering throwing-related injuries caused by overuse. Arlington Heights dialysis center closed after flood
An Arlington Heights dialysis center is closed for a few days after rainwater leaked inside as roof repairs were being done, officials said Tuesday. A manager at DaVita Arlington Heights Renal Center, 17 W. Golf Road, said Monday's "deluge of rain" flooded the office after crews working on the shopping center's roof removed its membrane. Protesters pay Lake County taxes with dollar bills
A small group of suburban residents protested rising property taxes Tuesday at the Lake County treasurer's office by paying with stacks of one-dollar bills. Bob Anderson, a Wonder Lake resident who's chairman of Illinois Tax Revolution, the group that organized the protest, said it was aimed at elected officials who serve on local government boards. DuPage County judge won't allow woman to change guilty plea in cat stabbing
A Chicago woman will not be allowed to change her guilty plea to charges of aggravated cruelty in the stabbing death of the family cat in Elmhurst, a DuPage County judge ruled Tuesday. Kelly Palermo, 51, previously pleaded guilty to the charge, but she recently filed a motion to withdraw that plea, saying her former attorney forced her to enter it. Full story.

Witness testifies he saw double murder suspect in Palatine
A prosecution witness testified Tuesday he came face to face with the man authorities say shot to death a Palatine father and his 15-year-old son. Jose Herrera said he saw Marco Lopez in his apartment building shortly after hearing a gunshot on March 19, 2014. Lopez faces first-degree murder charges.
