COVID-19: 4 deaths, 250 new cases in Glenview, Northbrook

Four people in Glenview and Northbrook died of COVID-19 in the past week, and 250 new cases of the disease were diagnosed in the communities, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, one person died during the week ending Tuesday, and 115 new cases were diagnosed.

Since the pandemic began, 98 Northbrook residents have died and 2,340 have tested positive for

the coronavirus.

In Glenview, three people died in the week, bringing deaths to 91 since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 3,246 people test positive overall, 135 of them in the past week.

In the previous week, Dec. 31-Jan. 5, nine deaths occurred among residents of Glenview and Northbrook and 262 new cases of the disease were diagnosed.

As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County had 202,857 cases and 3,973 deaths, according to Illinois public health officials. In Chicago, there have been 219,302 cases and 4,369 fatalities.

Total cases stand at 1,046,030 statewide with 17,840 deaths of the virus since the pandemic began.
