3 COVID-19 deaths, 106 new cases this week in Glenview and Northbrook

Two people in Glenview and one in Northbrook died of COVID-19 in the past week, and 106 people were newly diagnosed with the disease, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, deaths now stand at 106 since the pandemic began, and there have been 2,610 positive cases, 44 of them in the past week.

In Glenview, 97 people have died since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 3,587 people test positive overall, 62 of them in the past week.

In the previous week, Jan. 27-Feb. 2, a Northbrook resident died and new cases came to 53 in Northbrook and 63 in Glenview.

As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County had 223,240 cases and 4,307 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago there have been 238,517 cases and 4,723 fatalities.

There have been 489,763 COVID-19 cases across suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties as of Tuesday. That's almost 42.6% of the state's total, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. There have been 8,144 deaths in the suburbs, which is 41.4% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.

Total cases statewide stand at 1,150,170, and 19,686 Illinoisans have died since the pandemic began.
