COVID-19 update: Two deaths in Glenview, three in Northbrook in past week

Two people in Glenview and three in Northbrook died of COVID-19 in the past week, and 86 people were newly diagnosed with the disease, the Cook County public health and medical examiner's offices reported.

In Northbrook, deaths now stand at 109 since the pandemic began with 2,652 positive cases, 42 of them in the past week.

In Glenview, 99 people have died since the pandemic began. Glenview has had 3,631 people test positive overall, 44 of them in the past week. In the previous week, Feb. 3-9, Glenview had two deaths and 62 new cases, and Northbrook had one death and 44 new cases.

As of Tuesday, suburban Cook County had 225,742 cases and 4,388 deaths, according to the state. In Chicago there were 241,128 cases and 4,795 deaths.

There have been 496,064 COVID-19 cases across suburban Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties as of Tuesday. That's almost 42.6% of the state's total, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. There have been 8,288 deaths in the suburbs, which is 41.4% of all COVID-19 deaths in Illinois.

Total cases statewide stand at 1,164,922, and 20,034 Illinoisans have died since the pandemic began.
