Wescott students score a tour of school's new addition

Wescott School students in third-grade teacher Alexis Georgis and fourth-grade teacher Courtney Sislow's classes were the lucky winners of the PTO Raffle in early spring, earning a chance to tour the school's construction site on June 1 with Superintendent Dr. Brian Wegley, Principal Dr. Chris Brown, and representatives of Nicholas & Associates Inc.

The group wore hard hats while touring the addition, which includes classrooms and a gymnasium. The classrooms will be for future third- and fifth-graders, and the gymnasium will be large enough to hold groups of students, staff members, and families for programs.

Dr. Wegley told the children they were the first students to set foot in the classrooms and gymnasium and, because of this addition, Wescott will be welcoming kindergartners back next fall - the first time in 14 years.

The students thanked the representatives and administrators for the special tour, while the adults commented how quickly the project has progressed in such a short time.

The addition will be completed in August, and ready for staff and students on the first day of school, Sept. 2.
