Women's volleyball: No. 1 Harper rolls on

College volleyball

Harper's women's volleyball team retained its No. 1 ranking in the nation with two wins on Saturday.

The Hawks defeated Kankakee 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 25-18 in their first match.

The defending national champs (8-2) were led on attack by Palatine graduate Sarah Udoni (15 kills), who put down four in a row and seven on eight swings at one point during the second set. Udoni also had 3.5 blocks.

Ariana Chelini led with 32 digs followed by Breanna Cullen (27) and Fremd grad Karolina Sas (20).

Harper came back to top Kalamazoo Valley (Mich.) 25-13, 25-12, 25-17 as Breanna Cullen collected 17 digs and Ellie Burzlaff had 16 kills.

Mackenzie Bush put down 6 kills in a row an Udoni followed with four in a row. Setter Emily Huprich handed 17 assists in third set 3.

Harper plays at No. 7 ranked College of DuPage on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
