Celebrate Schaumburg's Bike Month This June With Fun Activities
The Village of Schaumburg encourages the public to celebrate Bike Month, which is being recognized by the village in June. A variety of fun activities will be offered, including solo and group bike events.
Schaumburg businesses and organizations are being encouraged to form virtual teams of four and participate in the fourth annual Business Bike Classic where riders will record their bicycle mileage for all bicycling activity during the month of June. Mileage from spinning and stationary bikes is also eligible. Teams must register online at https://bit.ly/2022businessbikeclassic.
New this year, cumulative results will be tracked for the top teams in each of the three mileage brackets (100-999 miles; 1,000-1,999 miles; 2,000+ miles). The top three teams in each mileage bracket will earn prizes, and the team with the most miles in the entire competition will be presented with the traveling Business Bike Classic trophy.
The popular Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg returns this June and is open to the public. The event, which is sponsored by the Village of Schaumburg and the Schaumburg Park District, will kick off at noon on Sunday, June 5 from the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center Plaza, 101 Schaumburg Court. Participants will ride in a five-mile police-escorted tour, utilizing both on and off-street bike paths throughout neighborhoods and parks surrounding the Municipal Center.
Immediately following the ride, a picnic-style lunch will be served. Participants will be able to eat their lunch safely distanced on the Municipal Center grounds. Before participating, all riders must register online and sign a liability waiver on the park district's website at https://bit.ly/3wCN8VP. Helmets are encouraged. Beginners and riders with training wheels are advised not to participate.
