Wheaton church to present annual concert of handbells
Continuing an annual tradition, Wheaton's Gary United Methodist Church invites the public to a handbell concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 22.
Four bell ensembles, consisting of ringers aged eight to adult, will perform a wide and diverse selection of popular hymns and secular music. Included will be "Joy," "Cool Cats," "Come Thou Almighty King," "How Far I'll Go" and more.
The featured piece will be "Lumière," an original composition by composer Fred Gramann.
Here, the composer musically illustrates how God separated the light from the darkness, leaving a pure beam of light that grew to a radiant brightness.
A reception will follow the performance. The concert is free although donations will be accepted. Ample parking is available in the church lot and on nearby streets.
