Hanover Township offering free summer lunches to youth

Hanover Township is partnering with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide free lunches to youth beginning June 6 at the Township's Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Avenue, Hanover Park and at the Izaak Walton Youth Center, 899 Jay Street, Elgin.

Lunches will be available Monday through Friday between the hours of 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM. No registration is required.

"For children that are used to eating lunch at school every day, a consistent lunch may be hard to come by during the summer months," said Brian P. McGuire, Hanover Township Supervisor. "Through this partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank we can address this problem in our own backyard."

Lunches will not be offered on Monday, July 4, as Township offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day. The last day for lunch service at the Youth Center is August 5 and August 12 for the Community Center.
