Revive Handmade Markets' first summer show June 13th in Arlington Heights
In the middle of 2020 when stores were closing and local markets were being cancelled, two local maker friends decided over dinner and drinks that they didn't want to sit around and wait for things to start up again. Out of the desire and need to create opportunity for local makers and small businesses, Revive Handmade Markets was born.
Arlington Heights makers Christina Klamer of Little Lady Impressions and Alessa Gurrola of Raw Amor Jewelry spent many seasons selling their handmade items at markets around the Chicago area as well as in local stores but when Covid happened, they lost many of their selling opportunities. With plans up in the air and no idea when normalcy would resume, Christina and Alessa decided it was time to create their own market to give all the local makers and opportunity to continue to do what they love and give the community an opportunity to shop and support local small business.
Revive Handmade Markets started small with only six makers selling in Christina's driveway in the Fall of 2020 and although they didn't know if anyone would show up, they were incredibly surprised at the outpouring of support from friends, family and the community as people came to shop! After that, they hosted three additional holiday shows at local venues where small businesses could support each other and with each show the crowds grew and the community came together even more.
Even though a lot of the markets have resumed in 2021, Revive Handmade Markets is continuing to grow and is hosting three summer shows in Arlington Heights with a combined 100 local handmade makers. Alessa and Christina are so proud of the momentum that Revive has and the opportunity to bring together community and art.
With each of the three summer events hosted in the parking lot of Baird & Warner at 210 W. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, all the makers are local and everything being sold is handmade. Local businesses are also featured bringing activities that the whole family can enjoy. Bach to Rock of Arlington Heights and Hello Art Studio of Arlington Heights will be at the June market offering activities for kids so that the whole family has something fun to participate in.
Revive Handmade Markets is an intimate, local, community shopping experience that's goal is to showcase all the wonderful talents right here in our very own communities. Revive takes pride in curating the perfect experience and bringing Arlington Heights a variety of quality handmade items from local makers.
Upcoming markets will be held at Baird & Warner: 210 W. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday June 13, August 8 and September 12.
