Weekend gathering of Native American veterans begins at Cantigny Park

The 8th annual National Gathering of Native American Veterans began Friday night with dinner and music at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.

This year's gathering focuses on healing, according to the event's website at tricksterculturalcenter.org.

Saturday's events at the gathering that's free and open to the public begin at 8 a.m. with a veteran roll call and will feature speakers including Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi and the mayors of Wheaton, Schaumburg and Hanover Park. Music, workshops and more will be featured throughout the day.

Sunday's lineup closes with music at 2:45 p.m.
