Hey Nonny Hosts Popular Bluegrass and Jazz Brunches
Bacon and banjos - horns and hash. Those fresh combinations are part of the popular weekend brunches hosted by new Arlington Heights bistro and music venue, Hey Nonny. Hey Nonny presents a Bluegrass Brunch with live bluegrass bands every Saturday and a Jazz Brunch with live jazz performers every Sunday.
"People love our music venue and our creative Midwest bistro food," said co-founder Chris Dungan. "Our brunches combine the two: delicious brunch fare with great music."
The brunches run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, with live music from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
"There's no ticket to buy," said co-owner Chip Brooks. "You can either make a reservation on our website (heynonny.com) or just walk in. The brunches are very popular for families with kids and people celebrating birthdays."
The Hey Nonny brunch is not a buffet. Food is ordered from a special brunch menu. "We're offering some very fun brunch dishes like shrimp and grits, a berry and yogurt trifle, a yummy cast iron pancake, and corn masa waffles that can be served with sweet or savory accompaniments, as well as traditional favorites" said Hey Nonny Executive Chef, Jay Ruff.
For those more on the lunch end of the brunch spectrum, Hey Nonny offers highlights from its regular dinner menu, as well as a special pear and fig grilled cheese sandwich available only at brunch.
"Musically, we're offering different performers every weekend," said Brooks. "People can see who's performing each brunch on our website."
An emerging neighborhood favorite, Hey Nonny opened in late 2018 and is known for its creative cocktails made with spirits from local distilleries. "We specifically applied for the liquor license that would allow us to serve Bloody Mary's at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays," said Dungan. "The brunches make that effort all worthwhile."
Hey Nonny is a bistro and music venue located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. The bistro serves an array of farm-to-table entrées and small plates conjured up by Chef Jay Ruff. The menu changes on a regular basis to feature seasonal items sourced from local Midwest farm suppliers. The music venue hosts live music six days a week, featuring the best Chicago and touring acts playing jazz, blues, country, folk, and rock.
