Midwestern University celebrates College of Pharmacy commencement
Students from the College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove celebrated the beginning of their professional careers with a virtual commencement ceremony on Thursday, March 4, and had the option to participate in a special convocation the following week. A total of 171 students received a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.) and will begin their professional pharmacy careers or participate in postgraduate residency programs.
Kathleen H. Goeppinger, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Midwestern University, acknowledged the many achievements of the graduates during their years of rigorous study and clinical experiences. "This class volunteered at many events in the community hosted by worthy organizations. You advocated for your profession at conferences, provided screenings at health fairs, and have taken opportunities to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination process at both clinical rotation sites around the U.S. and at points of distribution throughout Illinois; from patient intake and information, reconstitution and prefilling syringes to vaccine administration, our pharmacy students have been eager to put their knowledge and skills to work to serve the community," Dr. Goeppinger said in her message to the graduates. "You set a wonderful example for our University community, and we urge you to continue to do so as you transition to your professional career."
The virtual ceremony also featured remarks from Reem Motan, Pharm.D., Class of 2021 President. "Reflecting on our professional journey, I am so proud of how far we all have come," Dr. Motan said. "Not only have you all accomplished a major milestone in your lives, but you have all made history by serving on the frontlines during a pandemic."
