Motorcyclist critically injured in Fox Lake crash

A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries when his bike collided Sunday night with an SUV in Fox Lake, authorities said.

The 27-year-old McHenry man was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle north on Route 12 at Grand Avenue at 8:34 p.m. when a southbound Hyundai SUV attempted to turn left in front of him, according to Fox Lake police.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle and received care from a good Samaritan and police officers until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital with critical injuries, authorities said.

The driver of the SUV, a 72-year-old Round Lake woman, was not injured and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

The intersection of Route 12 and Grand Avenue was closed for about three hours as police investigated the crash.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was activated and responded to the scene to assist in the investigation, which remains ongoing, police said.
