Man gets 14 years in prison for robbing six suburban banks

A Cook County man who pleaded guilty earlier this year to robbing six suburban banks and brandishing a firearm at workers and customers was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

German Campos Jr., 26, of Franklin Park, was arrested in 2024 and has been in custody since.

He pleaded guilty in March to robbing five U.S. Bank branches and a BMO Harris branch during a 10-month period between October 2023 and August 2024. He robbed two U.S. Bank branches in Schaumburg, two in Elmhurst, the BMO branch in Park Ridge and a final U.S. Bank branch in Niles before he was arrested Sept. 17, 2024.

Authorities said during the robberies, Campos would point the gun in victims’ faces. His guilty plea included weapons charges as well, according to court records.

He was sentenced Wednesday.
