Wheaton’s Gary UMC to host Worship in the Park Aug. 16

The community is invited to outdoor worship with Gary United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, in Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave., Wheaton.

Worship will include a back-to-school prayer, children’s message, music, Scripture, sermon and more. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy worship, food and fellowship. If you’re able, provide a side dish, salad or dessert to share for the potluck picnic to follow worship. The church will provide chicken and lawn games.

The church’s Green Team asks you to bring your own reusable plates, cups, forks, etc. to help reduce garbage. And, be prepared to smile as the church will take a group photo.

The church at 224 N. Main St. has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. Summer Sunday worship is at 9 a.m., including Kids’ Church and a 10 a.m. Special Blend fellowship hour. Starting Sunday, Sept. 13, the church will resume its second service at 11:11 a.m., along with Sunday school for all ages at 10 a.m.
