Algae-Palooza celebrates lake stewardship efforts

Lake Lovers, a nonprofit stewardship organization in Lake County, is hosting Algae-Palooza from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Parkway on the Lake banquets, 25212 Lake Shore Drive on the north side of Long Lake in Ingleside.

The group, which began in 2022 as a conversation among neighbors seeking solutions to harmful algae blooms, has grown into a network of 79 trained water-quality monitoring volunteers with 512 total participants.

The appreciation event features stories from some of the 21 lakes in the current monitoring program, why they joined, how data is making a difference in how their lake is managed and more.

Tickets are $45 for a buffet dinner and non-alcoholic beverages. Cash bar is available.
