Park Ridge day care employee charged with aggravated battery toward a child

Olivia Cepeda, 29, of Glenview and an employee of Kiddie Academy Day Care in Park Ridge, was arrested after a report that she had hit a four-year-old in the stomach.

Video from a surveillance camera showed Cepeda hitting the child on the stomach and chest while the child was lying on the ground.

The incident was reported to police by the child’s parent and the director of Kiddie Academy Day Care. The Cook County States Attorney’s Office approved a felony charge of Aggravated Battery Towards a Child Under 13 years old.

Olivia Cepeda’s will first appear in court Tuesday, July 7, at the Cook County Second District Courthouse in Skokie.
