Adopt-A-Family, Angel Tree Programs Spread Holiday Cheer to In-Need Palatine Township Residents

The holidays season will be kicking off soon, and Palatine Township will again provide two programs that ensure in-need individuals and families living in the Township receive gifts, despite financial challenges. The Adopt-A-Family and Angel Tree Programs are both designed to spread some holiday cheer to those less fortunate, through connecting donors with those in-need.

Adopt-A-Family: Individuals, families, clubs and organizations, in addition to area businesses, are invited to become donors for the Adopt-A-Family program, which provides new clothing, toys and gifts for in-need families living in the Township. Those who wish to participate can sign up at PalatineTownship-il.gov/adopt-a-family/ no later than Thursday, November 15, 2018. The Township requests that gift cards be provided for parent and guardians in lieu of gifts, which can be used to purchase needed items for the family including food, clothing and toiletries. Gift cards can be placed in a separate envelope, and donors are asked to include a gift card receipt. The requested gift value for other family members is between $50-$75 so that giving is even for all recipients. Once participants have signed up to adopt a family, they will be assigned a specific donation drop-off time on Saturday, December 15. Please note: The Adopt-A-Family program is anonymous, so donations must be delivered at the assigned time; in-need families will be picking up gifts on the same day at a later time. For more information, email Llinberg@palatinetownship.com, or call 847-358-6700.

Angel Tree: Beginning Thursday, November 1, the Angel Tree will be on display in the Palatine Township Center lobby, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine. It will be decorated with handmade angel ornaments, which contain the first name, age and gift wish of Palatine Township in-need children or senior citizens. To participate, donors can go to the Township, select an ornament, and sign it out at the front desk. Participants are asked to spend between $25 and $35 per 'Angel', and gifts must not be used or perishable. Donors should fasten ornaments to the top of wrapped packages, and drop them off at the Palatine Township by Tuesday, December 4. Donors can sign up for this program here: palatinetownship-il.gov/angel-tree-program/.

"Both of these holiday giving programs are doing something very meaningful for our residents are experiencing financial challenges; they are meant to remind these residents that they are being thought of, and we are hopeful these efforts brighten up their holiday season," said Palatine Township Supervisor Sharon Langlotz-Johnson.
