Dining Out: New happy hour at Capital Grille, bourbon dinner, music bingo and more

The Capital Grille locations in the area unveiled their first happy hour experience this week.
Capital Hours, available Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the lounge, feature an exclusive menu and drink specials. Shareable dishes include sliced Kona-crusted dry-aged NY strip, porcini-rubbed lollipop lamb chops, oysters casino, mushroom truffle arancini and more.
The bar will offer a curated list of wines by the glass for $8 and handcrafted cocktails for $10 that include the greyhound martini, made with fresh grapefruit and basil; the straight up martini with hand-stuffed bleu cheese olives; and the peach bourbon smash.
They have suburban locations in Lombard, Rosemont, Schaumburg and Skokie.
Bourbon dinner
Bourbon lovers won’t want to miss Niche’s annual Sazerac dinner Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Geneva. The four-course dinner features pours of some of the portfolio’s most popular names, including Blanton’s, E.H. Taylor and Eagle Rare.
The evening starts with foie gras mousseline paired with Traveller whiskey and Buffalo Trace bourbon. Wild boar sausage follows with a Blanton’s Single Barrel pairing.
Short rib with caramelized sunchoke and parsnip and crispy pomme Dauphine is served with 2025 E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof bourbon and Buffalo Trace Kosher Rye. Dessert features vanilla cheesecake with Eagle Rare “The Game” Niche Single Barrel.
The dinner is $125 per guest and traditionally sells out. Call (630) 262-1000 for reservations.
Chef Selects
Old Town Pour House, with locations in Naperville and Oak Brook, has released its final round of Chef Selects dishes, a lineup that rotates every eight weeks while spotlighting fresh and buzzworthy items. The specials are also available at sister concept City Works Eatery & Pour House and their locations in Schaumburg and Vernon Hills.
Food highlights include a 14-oz. rib-eye steak with smoked garlic butter, charred Brussels sprouts with bacon jam, chipotle-cheddar mashed potatoes and crispy potato haystack ($38.95), and campfire fried ice cream served with toasted marshmallow, bourbon caramel, chocolate sauce, graham cracker crumbles, smoked almonds and whipped cream ($9.95).
The cocktail lineup features a spiced pear red sangria and a root beer White Russian (both $13.45).
The menu is available Nov. 5 to Dec. 30.

Every Thursday at 7 p.m., you can play for bragging rights while enjoying specials that include $9 cheeseburger sliders, $8 empanadas, half-off bottles of house wine and $4 Yuengling drafts.
The restaurant is located inside the Itasca Country Club at 400 E. Orchard St. and is open to the public.
