Officials: McHenry-area man accused of making threats against Fox Lake police
A McHenry-area man is facing charges after officials say he tried to arrest a Fox Lake police officer and made threats against officers.
Eric D. Walleck, 51, is charged with aggravated assault to a police officer, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, reckless driving and fleeing to elude, according to a news release from the Fox Lake Police Department.
Walleck saw a marked Fox Lake squad car traveling north on Route 12 around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and drove recklessly to catch up with it, then stopped abruptly in front of the squad, the release said.
Walleck approached the officer and said he was arresting her, the release stated. The officer ordered Walleck back to his car for her safety and his; he complied and then drove away.
Fox Lake police became aware of Walleck making threats against police officers and offering cash rewards for their arrest, according to the release.
Walleck was taken into custody at his home on the 1000 block of Hayden Drive near McHenry at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the release.
He was taken to the Lake County jail and is awaiting a detention hearing Thursday.
