Editor's note: This story has been corrected to include Phan's next scheduled court date of Sept. 29.
A Carol Stream woman is being held in DuPage County Jail on $35,000 bail, accused of hitting a pedestrian with her car and leaving late Wednesday near West Chicago.
Kim H. Phan, 57, of the 700 block of Carol Stream is charged with felony failure to report an accident involving personal injury.
Prosecutors said a witness found the unidentified victim screaming for help, in a ditch, at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Fair Oaks Road and Trieste Lane.
Sheriff's officials said the victim had just exited her vehicle, when Phan's vehicle hit the victim and left the scene of the accident.
The witness helped police track Phan down a short time later.
Prosecutors said the victim was transferred to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital to be treated for significant injuries, including a broken pelvis.
Prosecutors said Phan has no prior criminal record.
Outside her bond hearing, family members declined to comment, other than to say they intended to post her bail.
Phan's next scheduled court date is 9 a.m. Sept. 29 in courtroom 4000.
