Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason performs at ECC Feb. 7

Dave Mason, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member and co-founder of the legendary band Traffic, will perform Dave Mason's Traffic Jam at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Elgin Community College Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Dave Mason's Traffic Jam is an evening of music history as Mason retraces the earliest days of his career with Traffic as well as the works that launched his successful solo career. Mason invites audiences to take a journey back to the greatest days of rock. Mason will perform the music of Traffic plus new and classic solo material. This concert experience features both hits and deep album cuts from 1967's "Mr. Fantasy' and 1968's "Traffic" albums, plus other music of Traffic augmented by photos and Mason's personal stories.

Dave Mason founded Traffic with Steve Winwood while both were still teenagers, and created music that would find its way into the hearts of generations of music lovers. He would go on to establish himself as a successful songwriter, guitarist and solo artist.

Mason has penned dozens of hits, and his legendary guitar work has been linked with numerous other members of rock and roll elite, including Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Rita Coolidge, Leon Russell, Ron Wood and Mama Cass Elliot.

Tickets for the performance are $39-$45.

A three-course, pre-show dinner prepared by ECC's award-winning Culinary Arts and Hospitality program can be purchased for an additional $29. The menu will feature green and split pea soup with smoked ham, crispy potato-topped Cumberland Pie and toffee bread pudding. Dinners must be ordered on or before Monday, Feb. 2.

ECC Arts Center box office hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
