Janitor at Palatine YMCA charged with recording girls in locker room
A 34-year-old custodian has been charged with using his cellphone to record video of two underage girls changing in the women's locker room at Buehler YMCA on Sunday, Palatine police say. According to a news release issued yesterday, the female victims quickly noticed what Elizur Gomez, of the 1500 block of Silver Lane in Palatine, was doing and notified YMCA staff members and parents, who called 911. The largest Lexus dealership in the country now calls Arlington Heights home, and it has the space for many unusual features — including a salon and a gym — that will give customers things to do while waiting for a vehicle. Bob Rohrman's Lexus of Arlington opened on July 4 at 1510 W. Schaumburg native's coast-to-coast run reaches home
As part of a relay team running across the United States to raise money and awareness for young adults with cancer, Kristin Decker experienced the thrill yesterday of reaching her hometown of Schaumburg. In fact, her 8-mile leg of the day's route ended at St. Peter Lutheran Church, where the person to whom she's dedicating her efforts — the late Rev. Lindenhurst man involved in Zion gun sale returns to jail
A Lindenhurst man charged with trying to illegally sell a gun to a teen who was later shot by police during a foot chase in Zion was remanded back to the Lake County jail Wednesday. Tramond Peet, 18, was ordered held for one week for violating the conditions of his bond, defense attorney Robin Goodstein said. Peet violated curfew and did not check into pretrial bond services as required when he was released on $5,000 bail earlier this year, Goodstein said. Full story.

A Libertyville man who died in California earlier this month will be memorialized here Sunday. Cameron R. Gillen, 21, died July 1 after diving off a cliff at Angora Lakes, a recreation area in Northern California near South Lake Tahoe. Full story.
George H.W. Bush, 91, falls, breaks bone in neck
Former President George H.W. Bush has fallen at home in Kennebunkport, Maine, and broken a bone in his neck. Spokesman Jim McGrath says the 91-year-old Bush is stable and is doing “fine” after yesterday's fall. He says in a tweet the 41st president will be in a neck brace. Full story.

Oduya to Dallas
Former Blackhawks defenseman Johnny Oduya agreed yesterday to a two-year contract with the Dallas Stars for $7.5 million. Oduya told reporters via a conference call that he was trying to re-sign with the Hawks since the free-agency period opened on July 1, but as more and more time passed it became evident he would be playing elsewhere next season.
