Another record effort from Libertyville
Three more pool records fell at Libertyville on Thursday night, as the host Wildcats defeated Mundelein 122.5-63.5
Libertyville’s Alex Snarski made the biggest splash, as the Northwestern-bound senior won both the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke with record-setting swims.
Snarski clocked a pool-record 1:54.00 in the 200 IM, breaking the old mark of 1:57.13 set by Eric van Goethem in 1997. Snarski also got the team record in the 200 IM, taking down Ben Snader’s 1:55.32 from 2011.
Snarski’s 50.07 time in the 100 backstroke was also a pool record. He had gone 51.53 in 2013.
Mundelein’s Ayrton Kasemets also established a pool record, swimming the 100 breaststroke in 58.85. Van Goethem had the previous pool record of 59.84, also set in 1997.
Snarski also popped a 23.41 opening backstroke leg in the 200 medley relay.
In Libertyville’s last home meet, all three of its relays set pool records.
