• Ashley Albrecht of Barrington, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Albrecht, a James Scholar junior, dual majoring in English and psychology, was named on the dean's list for four semesters at the University of Illinois. She was the finale chairwoman for the Mom's Day Sing, sponsored by the Atius Sachem Leadership Honorary Society. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, and was inducted into the Undergraduate Psychology Association last spring. She was elected the executive board as publicity and recruitment chair for the Psi Chi National Psychology Honors Society, and joined the national leadership and honors organization Sigma Alpha Lambda.
• Lindsay Aldridge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Aldridge, and Mark DeDina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gregg D. DeDina, both of Hampshire, were named to the 2006 fall semester dean's list at Ripon College in Ripon, Wis. To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve a 3.40 grade-point average or higher on a 4.0 scale and complete at least 12 credits of regular letter-graded work
• Erin Daubert of Elgin has been accepted for admission to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, for the 2007-08 academic year and received a Regent Scholarship.
• Angela L. Davis, a Chicago-Kent student, is the recipient of the 2007 Jenner & Block Diversity Scholarship at Chicago-Kent College of Law. The scholarship is awarded to a first-year law student whose varied background, life, cultural and/or ethnic experience contributes to a more diverse environment at Chicago-Kent. The award is based on the student's academic merit and demonstrated commitment to community service. It is intended to defray the recipient's second-year tuition.
Davis, a first-year student at Chicago-Kent, has recently been accepted into the law school's Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution certificate program. At Chicago-Kent, she serves as the evening representative for the Kent Justice Foundation, a student organization that promotes volunteerism, pro bono work and public interest law.
Davis completed her undergraduate education at the College of New Jersey and earned a paralegal certificate from Elgin Community College. She currently works as a paralegal at General Electric in Schaumburg. Prior to that she was a paralegal in the Second District Appellate Court in Elgin.
In her spare time, Davis volunteers at Centro de Informacion in Elgin. She has also volunteered at the Elgin Soup Kitchen and as an intake interviewer for the Center for Disability and Elder Law.
• Julie DeGregorio of Sleepy Hollow was named to the fall 2006 dean's list at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Angela Fulco and Jeremy Link of South Elgin were named to the fall 2006 dean's list St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
• Kristina Kalivoda, daughter of John and Antoinette Kalivoda of Cary, recently graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Kalivoda will practice veterinary medicine during her internship in Exotics, Wildlife, and Zoo Medicine at the Texas A&M University in College Station.
While at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Kalivoda participated in the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society and was valedictorian of her graduating class.
• Alexandros Karas of West Dundee was recently honored with two High Scholar Awards from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
The awards are given to students who rank in the top two percent of their class in the seven colleges at the university. Karas won for his work in both the College of Human Sciences and the College of Business
• Collin Klein of Hampshire was named to the president's list during the fall 2006 semester at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Students on the president's list earned a straight "A" grade point average of 4.0 at Drake.
• Stephanie Lehman, daughter of Scott and Martha Lehman, granddaughter of Fred and DeLoris Doederlein of East Dundee, recently won third place for the Best Informational Graphic Column in the Indiana Collegiate Press Association's annual contest. Stephanie is one of several reporters for "The Torch," Valparaiso University's student newspaper, who received awards.
Lehman is a 2004 graduate of Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville and is majoring in English and new media journalism with a minor in political communication.
• Amberly May of South Elgin was named to the dean's list for fall 2006 at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. Full-time students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average to qualify for this honor.
• Natalie Melchers, daughter of David and Barbara Melchers of Algonquin, was named to the dean's list at North Park University in Chicago for the spring 2007 semester. Melchers, a psychology and Spanish double major, was recognized for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or better.
• Corrie Mills of Elgin was one of 4,002 undergraduate students named to the spring 2007 dean's list at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Mills, child of Dave and Karen Mills, was a senior in the College of Education and Human Development during spring semester.
To be chosen for the dean's list, undergraduate students must carry no fewer than 12 letter-graded credit hours per semester and achieve a grade point averages of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
• Brandie Richardson of Carpentersville was named to the dean's list for fall 2006 at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights. Full-time students must earn a minimum 3.5 grade point average to qualify for this honor.
• Johnathan Neiswinger, son of Michael and Cindy Neiswinger of Hampshire, recently received the College Chemistry Award presented by The Society for Analytical Chemistry of Pittsburgh. The award includes a monetary prize and a certificate of accomplishment. A monetary award will also be presented to the Geneva College Library in his honor along with an engraved nameplate to be added to the plaque in the Chemistry Department listing prior SACP winners.
While at Geneva College, he was on the dean's list every semester, a recipient of the Trustee Scholarship, Alumnus Chemistry Scholarship and Presidential Scholarship, and a member of Alpha Chi and the Geneva College Honors Program.
• Adam M. Ziegler, formerly of Elgin, has received his certified public accounting license from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy. He graduated from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas in 2004 with an undergraduate degree in business administration and in 2005 with a master's degree in accounting. He graduated from St. Edward Catholic High School in Elgin in 2000. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas and is employed by KPMG as an auditor.
