Schaumburg man gets prison, must pay bills

A Schaumburg man was sentenced to a short prison stay and ordered to shell out money for medical bills after pleading guilty Tuesday to two counts of battery.

Ardit Bajrami, 22, of 1926 Prairie Square, originally had faced felony aggravated battery charges stemming from a July 2006 stabbing of two Mount Prospect men as they left the Frontier Days festival in Arlington Heights.

In exchange for his guilty plea Tuesday, Cook County Judge John Scotillo sentenced Bajrami to six months in prison -- he'll get credit for the days he's already served -- and ordered him to pay a total of $4,400 in restitution.

The money will go toward the medical bills of the victims, who were treated at a hospital afterward, officials said.
