Student of the Month honored
West Chicago's Community High School has announced senior Chelsea Steck as its Student of the Month for November. She was selected for her leadership locally and globally with the WeGo 2 Africa project, her volunteering in the English as a Second Language classes, the school's recycling program and the dance production as well as her community volunteerism.
Deadline for Parents' Night Out
Deadline to register is 4 p.m. Wednesday for the B.R. Ryall YMCA's Parents' Night Out, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Y, 49 Deicke Drive, Glen Ellyn. Parents may drop off their children, who must be toilet trained. The staff will entertain children with the climbing wall, a craft, KidZone fun and a movie. The fee is $11 for members, $13 or others. Toy collection to end Wednesday
Glenbard North High school's student council is working with the Humanitarian Service Project to collect new toys for needy children in surrounding communities of Carol Stream. Holiday senior lunch planned
Glendale Heights Parks and Recreation Department is taking registration for a Christmas lunch for ages 62 and older planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Glenside Lakes, 1550 President St., Glendale Heights. The event includes a collection of toys for needy children. The lunch is free for residents, $15 for others.

Fun time clubs in Carol Stream
The Carol Stream Park District will offer Kids Care Days Off Club for when students are out of school and need something to do. The club offers crafts, games and physical activities as well as adventures and file trips.
A Tot Open Gym is also offered for children 9 months to 4 years from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at the Simkus Recreation Center, 849 Lies Road, Carol Stream. The fee is $3 for residents, $5 for others. For details, visit the Web site at www.csparks.org or call (630) 784-6199.
