Scam hits residents

Several Naperville residents have lost money in a "phishing" scam in recent weeks resulting in more than a $10,000 loss, according to Naperville police. A variation of the scam occurs over the telephone. The FBI is investigating. If you believe you have been a victim contact Naperville police at (630) 420-6665. Lombard settles case

Trustees in Lombard recently signed off on a legal settlement agreement with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Co. for roughly $115,000. Design mistakes by the firm caused lengthy delays and expensive cost overruns to the Westmore-Meyers underground utilities project, Trustee Dick Tross said. Some minor work still remains. Tross said he wanted the information made public so residents would know other contractors were not at fault and that elected officials did everything they legally could to remedy the situation.
