Compassionate Friends hold annual candle lighting

On Sunday, the McHenry Chapter of the Compassionate Friends will participate in the 10th annual Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting Ceremony.

The Compassionate Friends is a support group for parents who have lost a child.

The annual Candle Lighting unites families and friends around the globe as they light candles from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, in their local time zone, so that candles are lit for 24 hours around the world.

The McHenry Chapter will be holding a candle lighting ceremony at the First United Methodist Church 236 W. Crystal Lake Ave., at the corner of Crystal Lake Avenue and Dole Street in Crystal Lake.

The program will begin at 5:30 p.m., candle lighting will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Anyone who wishes to attend is welcome. For details, visit www.tcfchicago.org.
