Village won't limit banks
Hanover Park on Thursday decided against further regulating any future banks that move into town. The village board had previously voted down putting a moratorium on financial institutions but wanted further information regarding a specific code used in Schaumburg that would bar freestanding banks with drive-through lanes from corner lots along major arterial roadways unless part of a larger commercial development. Mayor Rod Craig wanted to reserve those prime real estate spots for other types of retail. However, the board agreed that Hanover Park could use more banks since it has significantly fewer for its population than most other towns.

The Northwest Suburban High School District 214 board approved the 2008 summer school program at a meeting Thursday. Part of the program includes driver education fees that will be $350 per student for classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Driver education will be offered at Elk Grove High School, Prospect High School and Wheeling High School this summer. Registration for all summer school classes begins on April 1.
