2 dead in separate DuPage Co. wrecks

A 23 year-old Bensenville man was killed early Saturday when his car veered off the I-290 extension into an embankment and caught fire in Addison.

The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. as the driver, Ryan Bernero, was heading eastbound near the Route 83 exit ramp, Illinois State Police District 2 officials said.

The vehicle left the road, hit an embankment, rolled over and caught fire, police said.

Bernero was partially ejected from the vehicle. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Bernero was pronounced dead at 2:10 a.m. at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, DuPage County coroner's office officials said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday, but results were not immediately available.

In an unrelated crash, a New Lenox man died early this morning at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove after a crash on I-55 in Bolingbrook.

The coroner's office said deceased, 54-year-old Samuel J. Ursetta, was traveling inbound on I-55 when he struck the center median at around 11:15 p.m.
