Schoolhouse Rock Live: "Schoolhouse Rock Live!" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 4-5 and 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, 1920 S. Wiesbrook Road, Wheaton. The musical is based on the educational cartoons that aired in the 1970s and 1980s. Tickets cost $8, $4 for seniors and children 10 and younger. Auditions: The Magical Starlight Theatre will hold auditions for the musical "Bye Bye Birdie" Oct. 13-14 at the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, Eagle and Jackson streets, Naperville.
Children in grades four through eight may audition from 1 to 2 p.m. both days.
Auditions for teens 14 to 19 will be from 2 to 3 p.m. each day.
Auditions for adults 20 and older will be from 3 to 4 p.m. each day.
Call backs will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 15.
Anyone who auditions should prepare an up-tempo song and bring the sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Auditions also will include dance and cold readings from the script.
Rehearsals begin Oct. 21 and will be scheduled Sunday afternoons and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Performances will be Jan. 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27 at Naperville Central High School, 440 W. Aurora Ave.

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble: The Buffalo Theatre Ensemble will open its 21st season with the psychological thriller "The Woman in Black" through Oct. 14 at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Ave., Glen Ellyn.
Show times are 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.

'Parallel Lives': The Grounded Theatre will present "Parallel Lives" through Oct. 20 at The Comedy Shrine, 22 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. Shows will be Saturdays and select Sundays.
The play, written by Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy, features two women portraying various characters.
Tickets cost $20, $15 for students and senior citizens. Group discounts and dinner theater packages are available.

Seeking new members: The Village Theatre Guild, Inc., meets at 7:30 p.m. the third Monday of every month at the Village Theatre, on the northwest corner of Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn.
New members are welcome. The group is seeking both adults who enjoy acting and singing, as well as those who want to work behind-the-scenes with makeup, hair, costumes, props, set construction and design, lighting and sound.
No experience is needed. Each gathering starts with a short business meeting followed by a one-act play or scene by a VTG member.
