• Sean Hallarman, son of Dr. Peter S. and Prudence R. Hallarman of Lincolnshire, was named to the spring 2007 semester dean's list of Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal arts college at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

• Kristin Wilson of Lake Zurich, daughter of Pamela and Christopher Wilson, was named to the dean's list for the spring quarter at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. In order to be named to the dean's list, a student must earn at least a 3.3 grade-point-average.

• Laurel Leigh Bodkin of Mundelein and Thomas Robert Trausch of Vernon Hills received degrees from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, during the spring commencement.

• Hope College in Holland, Mich., named the following local residents to the second semester dean's:

Lake Zurich: Amanda S. Penar.

Libertyville: Jennifer A. Blair, Caroline S. Coleman, Casey B. Splinter and Allison N. Van Beek.

Mundelein: Alison K. Garza and Dylana R. Pinter.

Vernon Hills: Erin B. Hawkinson and Alisa D. Hintz.

Wauconda: Amy S. Gilles.

• Northern Illinois University in DeKalb awarded the following local students graduate degrees in spring 2007:

Hawthorn Woods: Kathleen S. Wallis, education.

Lake Zurich: Vickie K. Myrick, visual and performing arts.

Libertyville: Alexander P. Adams, education; Douglas D. Gerber, education.

Lincolnshire: William B. Harvey, business;

Long Grove: Justin B. Dooley, business;

Mundelein: Linda Leitch-Alford, education.

Vernon Hills: Leslie W. Kovich, education; David Tzau, business.

• Monmouth College in Monmouth honored the following local residents for scholastic achievement at honors convocation:

Janette Buffardi, daughter of Ettore and Debbie Buffardi of Hawthorn Woods, was awarded the A. Conant and Daphne Benson McNeill scholarship and the Monmouth College fine arts scholarship. She is a sophomore business major.

Catie Bartunek, daughter of Bill and Therese Bartunek of Lake Zurich, was recognized as a Blue Key member, an honorary fraternity recognizing outstanding character and ability and distinction in service, leadership and scholarship. She is a junior art and psychology major.

Thomas Shaver, son of David and Valerie Shaver of Mundelein, was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a freshman honorary society for students earning a 3.5 grade point average over the first academic year. He is a freshman physical education major.

• Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., named the following local residents to the spring semester dean's list:

Libertyville: Christopher Miller.

Vernon Hills: Kimberly Klages, Holly Pettersen and Noah Waller.

• Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., awarded the following local students degrees on May 5:

Kildeer: Melissa Maloney, bachelor's degree in nursing.

Libertyville: Heidi Kaplan, bachelor's degree cum laude in business administration. Vernon Hills: Jennifer Drozd, master's degree in education in music.
