McHenry County barn tour helps save them

The fifth annual Barn Tour "Saving Our Barns" is set from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 27.

View some of the magnificent barns set in the rolling landscape of north central McHenry County -- in Woodstock, Alden, Hebron, and Greenwood townships.

Some barns have been restored and are still used as barns; some are now used for other purposes.

Local storytellers will add to the historical images of farming life in McHenry county in days gone by.

The tour leaves from Concorde Centre, 3708 Alden Road, Woodstock. A social gathering will take place at Concorde at 4 p.m. at the conclusion of the tour.
