New Lake in the Hills trustee active in village
Eleven-year Lake in the Hills resident Bob Huckins last week was appointed to the village board.
An Elmhurst events manager by trade, Huckins has served the village as a member of the planning and zoning committee, the parks and recreation board and the village relations committee.
"I've had my eye on putting him on the board for a while," Village President Ed Plaza said.
Huckins has been involved with the village on both a commission and volunteer level, Plaza said.
"He's volunteered for a number of parks programs and races," Plaza said. "He's someone you always see at community events."
Huckins replaces Liz Wakeman, who served as a trustee for the past three years.
Wakeman resigned from the board when she took a job at Zukowski Rogers Flood & McArdle in Crystal Lake, a law firm that represents Lake in the Hills.
Describing Huckins as "cerebral," Plaza said the new trustee is "not lacking in many of the things (Wakeman) brought to the board -- which are to be studious and to not gloss over issues."
Huckins could not be reached for comment Monday.
