Get sneak peek at Ken Burns' 'The War' at Raue Center

The Raue Center for the Arts will offer McHenry County and the entire Chicago metropolitan area the opportunity to attend an advance, complimentary screening of the Ken Burns film, "The War." The screening is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday at the Raue Center for the Arts, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake.

"The War," a seven-part series directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, tells the story of the World War II through the personal accounts of nearly 40 men and women from four American towns. The series explores the most intimate human dimensions of the greatest cataclysm in history and demonstrates that in extraordinary times, there are no ordinary lives.

A production of Florentine Films and WETA is coming to PBS Sept. 23.

Copies of the companion book, "The War: An Intimate History," provided courtesy of Knopf, and the soundtrack CD, "The War: A Ken Burns Film, The Soundtrack," provided courtesy of Legacy Recordings, will be raffled off at the time of the screening.
