Genealogy expert to answer questions

Bridging the Gap Across the Pond, about searching online genealogical databases, will be presented at 10:30 a.m. today at Schaumburg Township Library District, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Mike Karsen will talk about searching online databases for Ellis Island and the ports of Baltimore, Boston, New Orleans and Philadelphia.

Cuban music kicks off center's season

Tiempo Libre, a Miami-based, Cuban-born music group, will perform at 7:15 p.m. today on the Mainstage of McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

The concert is part of a 2007-2008 season kick-off party that will start at 7:15 p.m. in the art center's main lobby. It will include tapas, libations, mingling, dancing and family activities. The music performance starts at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $18, $16 for seniors ages 60 and older and $8 for children younger than 18. For tickets or details, call (630) 942-4000.

Democrats to hold a fall fundraiser

The Milton Township Democratic Organization will have its fall fundraising event from 7 to 10 p.m. today at the Guzman home, 21W764 Marston Ave., Glen Ellyn. Big band dance to be held at COD

A big band dance will be from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the west commons of Building K at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn. A live band will play big band-era music. Tickets cost $6 at the door. For details, call (630) 942-2700.

Real estate club to meet Sunday

Commercial Real Estate Investing will be the program at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Room 2800 of the Student Resource Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

Scott Scheel, a national expert on commercial real estate investing for the small investor, will be the presenter.

Regular monthly meetings of the Chicago Creative Investors Association Real Estate Investors Club are from 5:30 to 9 p.m. the third Sunday of each month at COD. The cost is free for members of the association, $15 for nonmembers.
