Entertainment keeps growing for Turning Point radiothon

Several more guests have been added to the lineup of Star 105.5's 36-hour radiothon, "Take a Stand for Turning Point."

Morning hosts "Gary & Paula" will broadcast from Sam's Club in Crystal Lake starting at 6 a.m. Friday, and Paula McKay will stay on the air until 6 p.m. Saturday.

Last year, this event raised $80,000 and helped to open Turning Point's shelter for victims of domestic violence.

In addition to the on-air broadcast, the event will feature non-stop entertainment and events at the Sam's Club broadcast location.

State's Attorney Louis Bianchi has announced he will "Take a Stand" Friday at 7 a.m. Also added to the lineup was United Way McHenry County Executive Director Dave Barber and Sandy Lewis of the McHenry County Mental Health Board.

Beatles tribute band Stockwood has been added to the Friday night entertainment line up. Stockwood recently won the "Battle of the Beatle Bands," an annual event held in Chicago, for the second year in a row.

At 6 p.m., Valentine will perform, followed at 7 p.m. by the Butterfly Assassins and Stockwood at 8 p.m. At 9 p.m., local favorites No Clear Way will close out the evening.

Saturday morning will feature entertainment, activities and face painting for kids of all ages, followed at 11:30 a.m. by the Good News Band from Light of Christ Lutheran Church and teen classic-rock band 33 13 at 1 p.m.

Chicago-based singer/songwriter Chris Gilmartin performs a solo acoustic set at 2:30 p.m., followed by The Blind Roosevelts at 4 p.m.

Food will be available through the afternoon courtesy of a barbecue by the Sam's Club staff.

Additional performances and activities will be added as the event approaches. Details will be announced on the "Gary & Paula Morning Show" from 5 to 10 a.m. on Star 105.5.
