Briefs: Spots open on committees
Due to changes in the number of members on committees in Island Lake, many spots are open for residents on the plan commission, zoning board of appeals, lake management, fire and police pension board, fire and police commission and other committees. Island Lake will increase from three to seven the number of members it will have on each committee after hearing from the state's attorney's office about the Open Meetings Act. Those interested in serving on boards or committees should call the village clerk at (847) 526-8764.
Final summer music event
The Wauconda Park District will hold the summer's final Evening Entertainment in the Park at Homer T. Cook Park, 600 N. Main St., on Sunday. The concert is free to attend. Bring your own refreshments or buy them at the park. Featured this weekend will be the group Deevah, which plays contemporary rock music. Dist. 75 to post on Web
To improve communication between parents and the district, Mundelein District 75 will be publishing a new e-newsletter on the Web site at the beginning of each month called "Board Briefs." The Web site is www.d75.lake.k12.il.us. Board briefs will include board activities, student and staff recognition and information about the district. Just click on the "Board Briefs" button and select the latest edition. The district is making arrangements to have the Board Briefs translated into Spanish. A hard copy will be posted in each school office for those who do not have Internet access.
Search is on for singers
Mundelein High School's show choirs are seeking talented singers to participated in a talent show called Mundelein Idol. The event is set for the school auditorium on Oct. 6.
