Police beat: Stop sign run over by car

•A stop sign on westbound Webster Street at Route 25 was run over by a vehicle, it was reported Wednesday.
•Donald L. Anderson, 89, 1244 Brandywine Court, was charged with DUI and failure to yield at a stop intersection after an accident at Water and First streets at 5:50 p.m. Friday, according to police.
Geneva
•An unlocked orange Showgun BMX bicycle was stolen from in front of a store on the 100 block of Commons Drive between 11:15 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. Wednesday. It was valued at $180.
•The driver's-side area of the hood of a 1994 Lexus ES300 was bent between Aug. 2 and 5. Police think it might have happened with the hood in the upright position. The owner said she did have the car serviced during that time.
Kane County
•Attempted burglary was reported Aug. 6 at 6N444 Valley Circle Drive, St. Charles Township. A screen door frame and window valued at $100 were damaged during the attempted break-in.
•About 80 compact discs valued at $900 and about $5 in change were stolen Aug. 7 or 8 from a car on Glen Cove Lane, Rutland Township.
•Bradley L. Jarm, 22, of 1142 Highburry Drive, Elgin, was arrested at 11:33 p.m. Aug. 10 and charged with attempted obstruction of justice after giving police a false name during a traffic stop at Route 38 and LaFox Road in Campton Township, police said. The driver, Daniel G. Alvarado, 24, of 7104 Westwood Drive, Carpentersville, also was arrested on an Elk Grove Village warrant for possession of a controlled substance, police said. In addition, Alvarado was cited for driving without taillights and operating an uninsured vehicle, police said.
•A mailbox post valued at $50 was damaged about 9 p.m. Wednesday on Middlecreek Lane, St. Charles Township.
•An estimated $300 in damage was done to a yard at 9N771 Old Mill Court, Plato Township, when a vehicle drove across it Wednesday.
•Anthony Gibson, 43, of 224 Maple Ave., Sugar Grove, was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Sunday and charged with speeding in excess of 85 mph on Farnsworth Avenue, just north of Interstate 88, in Aurora Township, police said. Gibson is accused of driving 94 mph in a 35 mph zone.
•Diego Medrano, 18, of 236 Maplewood Ave., Northlake, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Aug. 4 and charged with marijuana possession in the area of 40W225 Route 64, Campton Township, police said. Hugo C. Bravo, 19, of 426 North Ave., Glendale Heights, was also arrested and charged with resisting/obstructing police.
•A woman was hospitalized after being bitten by a dog Tuesday on Buckingham Drive in Sugar Grove Township.
•A baluster valued at $19.95 was damaged Aug. 7 on Normandie Drive in Sugar Grove Township.
•A vehicle windshield was shattered Monday or Tuesday at 7N576 Cloverfield Circle, St. Charles Township.

•A wallet was reported lost Sunday at Butera, 2734 E. Main St.
•A house on the 3400 block of Voltaire Lane was shot with paintballs late Monday, causing an estimated $20 in damage to its siding.
•Richard J. Bridgewater, 46, of 836 Fifth Ave., Batavia, was arrested at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery at the St. Charles police station, 2 State Ave., police said.
•Kristin J. Whiteman, 34, of 12436 Meadow Drive, Winnebago, Ill., was arrested at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday and charged with retail theft after stealing $263 in clothes from Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., police said.
•Vareliana Ballines, 19, of 512 E. Stimmel St., West Chicago, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday and charged with retail theft after stealing $199 in clothes from Von Maur, 3810 E. Main St., police said.
