Briefs: Track meet returning
The 2010 USA Youth Outdoor Track and Field Championships will return to the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex from June 28 to July 4, 2010, officials from the Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau announced Thursday. Sponsored by the USA Track and Field Illinois Association, the championship last was held in Lisle in 2007 when it attracted more than 2,000 athletes from across the country.
Shuttle for students:
Students in the Aurora, Naperville and Lisle areas interested in attending Montini Catholic High School in Lombard now have the option of taking a free bus shuttle from the Metra/Burlington Northern Santa Fe train station on Main Street in Downers Grove. For details, contact Barb Pauley at (630) 627-6930, ext. 172, or bpauley@montini.org.
Police get new software
A new computer software program being installed on Lombard police computers will save paper. The software, funded by DuPage County, will enable officers to scan bar codes on driver's licenses and transmit traffic ticket information directly to the circuit clerk's office rather than use paper. The move also will save filing costs.
