Gas back on in Schaumburg
For the second time this year, residents at a Schaumburg apartment complex were without natural gas, shut off because management hadn't paid their bills on time, according to Nicor officials. Gas was shut off Wednesday for at least four units at the 300-unit Grand Vista of Schaumburg apartments on the southwest corner of Golf Road and Knollwood Drive. Up to 50 units may have been affected. A Nicor spokesman said apartment management was notified in October that the gas would be turned off due to late payments. The utility company turned the gas back on Friday afternoon after reaching a payment agreement with the apartment management, the spokesman added. A woman answering the phone at the apartment complex said that gas was shut off because of a mistake by Nicor crews. She added that the problem had been rectified and that there were no problems with payment. Nicor turned gas off at 24 units at the same complex in April due to late payments.
