VFW Post 2327: The South Elgin VFW Post 2327 and the Ladies Auxiliary's Veteran's Dance is at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 at South Elgin Lions Club, 500 Fulton St. Cost is $15/pp and $25/couples, cash only; half-price for active duty personnel 18 years or older with military identification. Church Women United: Women will gather across the country in small communities to celebrate World Community Day based on the theme "God's Wisdom Sets Us Free." VFW Post 2298: The Tri-City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2298, 117 S. First St., West Dundee, will hold a Turkey Party Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8. Art for All: Art for All will host its winter art show through Dec. 18 at Gail Borden Library. An artist reception is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Huntley American Legion: Huntley's American Legion Post 673, 11712 Coral St., will host its annual "Feather Party" from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Legion hall, raffling turkeys, hams, ducks, and steaks with a bottle of wine and many door prizes will be given away. A free lunch of turkey sandwiches will be offered. Non-Legion members can attend.
American Legion Post 57: American Legion Post 57 is hosting a country and western karaoke theme event from 7 p.m. to midnight, Nov. 8, at the post, 820 N. Liberty, Elgin. Attendees can dress up as cowboys or cowgirls. Event features meat raffles and possibly a 50/50 raffle. Food and drinks will be available.
Signal Hill DAR: Signal Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a Genealogy Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Barrington Area Library, Room "A," first floor, 505 N. Northwest Hwy., Barrington. All prospective members or those researching family history is welcome at this free gathering. A light lunch will be served. AM Vets 245: AM Vets Post 245 of Cary will conduct a turkey raffle at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Tin Man's Sports Pub, 926 Route and Route 14, Fox River Grove. Hampshire VFW Auxiliary: Hampshire Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 8043 will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at the Hampshire Township building, 100 Center St. Judging will be completed on the Patriot Pen essays from the Hampshire Middle School and St. Charles Borromeo. League of Women Voters: Now that the election is over, look ahead to Jan. 20 when the Elgin League of Women Voters invites everyone to Celebrate Democracy and talk about the work ahead in addressing the many crucial issues confronting our state and country. On Monday, Nov. 10, League member Dennis Bulat will moderate a discussion not only about who won and why, but also how citizens can remain active in these critical areas. Elgin Woman's Club: The next Elgin Woman's Club meeting and program will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 11, at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. The program will feature a presentation on the importance of the Parent Teachers Association and parents' involvement at all levels of a child's education by Pamela Nielsen. Members must make reservations no later than Friday, Nov. 7, by calling (847) 622-3614. Cost of luncheon meeting and program is $13 and can be paid by check at the door the day of the meeting.
NARFE: National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the American Legion meeting room at 820 N. Liberty St. (Route 25) in Elgin. Lunch is available in the American Legion lunchroom before the meeting. Coffee and desserts will be served after the meeting.

Henpeck Unit HCE: The next meeting of the Henpeck Unit will be held on Nov. 11 at the home of International Director, Dorothy Murry, on Widmayer Road in Hampshire. SHRM: On Thursday, Nov. 13, Stateline Society of Human Resource Management will welcome Wendy Fencl, leader of BlessingWhite's Employee Engagement Practice, who will discuss the elements that can turn succession planning, using real-life examples and practical tips.
