Briefs: Former student arraigned
A Muslim student accused of making up a story about a masked gunman assaulting her after he wrote anti-Islamic slurs in an Elmhurst College restroom pleaded not guilty Monday to a felony charge of disorderly conduct. Safia Jilani, 19, of Oak Brook, entered the perfunctory plea when arraigned before DuPage Circuit Judge Kathryn Creswell. She was expelled after authorities accused her of making the false Oct. 9 report. Jilani, free on bond, faces up to three years in prison if convicted. She is due back in court Dec. 22.
