Briefs: Injured pedestrians identified

Naperville police have identified the pedestrians injured Sunday afternoon when they were struck by a police vehicle. Carolyn A. Marszalik, 32, of Naperville, was admitted to Edward Hospital for treatment. Steven M. Ellis, 34, of Naperville, was treated and released. Police say the vehicle was driven by Sgt. Ken Keating, a 14-year veteran of the department. He was driving a marked SUV and responding to an emergency call. The crash remains under investigation. Cmdr. Dave Hoffman would not comment on Keating's current status with the department since the accident, saying it's a personnel matter. Witnesses are asked to call (630) 420-6197.

Police probe burglaries

Wheaton police are cautioning residents to lock their cars and trucks as they continue to receive reports of motor vehicle burglaries across the city. In most cases, vehicles were left unlocked while parked in residential neighborhoods. Police recently arrested two men in connection with several burglaries, yet the crimes continue. Gandhi's grandson speaks

The grandson of spiritual leader and peace advocate Mohandas Gandhi will speak at the College of DuPage at 7:30 p. m. Oct. 28 on "Lessons I learned from my grandfather." Library trustees sought

The Winfield Public Library board of trustees is accepting applications until Oct. 31 for an open position on the library board. Applicants must be 18 or older and resident of the village. A letter of interest and resume should be mailed to the trustee review committee at Winfield Public Library, 0S291 Winfield Road, Winfield.
